Sugar Syrup

Also known as simple syrup, sugar syrup is commonly used to flavor tea and other beverages, thereby avoiding undissolved sugar granules.

TIME 15 minutes, plus 20 minutes cooling

Store in the refrigerator.

Instructions

1.

Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan. Set the pan over medium heat and whisk frequently until the sugar dissolves completely. Bring to a simmer.

2.

For flavored syrup, add flavorings of your choice. Simmer for 4 minutes, remove from the heat, and cool. Strain the flavorings out of the syrup once it cools.
