All-Purpose White Glaze

Even a simple, all-purpose glaze can dress up a simple butter cookie.

To color, stir drops of food coloring into the glaze until it reaches the desired tint. For a citrus-flavored glaze, substitute orange, lemon, or lime juice for the milk. The glaze can also be flavored with ½ teaspoon of your favorite extract.

Whisk all ingredients together until smooth. Spread glaze onto completely cooled cookies. Let glaze dry completely, about 30 minutes, before serving.
